The death of former Israeli President Shimon Peres led to a wave of almost unanimous tributes. Representatives from 75 countries came to Jerusalem to attend the funeral. Palestinian Authority (PA) President Mahmoud Abbas even left Ramallah for a few hours to show up.
Such a consensus could seem to be a sign of support for Israel, but it was something else entirely.
Don’t trust your instinct. I can certainly see why women, including Jewish women, would prefer a seemingly well-spoken, mature senior stateswoman, to a brash, loud-mouthed political neophyte who has made so many off-handedly offensive locker-room comments about women.
This would be your instinct.
How lovely, how easy, it would be then, to vote for a woman running against a man like that.
And how disastrously wrong.

Yesterday, Congressman Hank Johnson, in a speech to an anti-Israel organization called U.S. Campaign to End the Israel Occupation, which supports the BDS movement, called Jewish residents of Judea and Samaria, “Termites.”
Ari Soffer, who is Managing Editor of Arutz Sheva (Israel National News), responded to Congressman Johnson’s comment. Keep in mind that Jews have continuously lived in Judea and Samaria (and East Jerusalem) since the 6th Century BCE, except for a single 19 year period between 1948 and 1967 when it was controlled by Jordan. Anyone who considers that Israel is “occupying” Judea and Samaria, or East Jerusalem, is wrong legally, politically and historically. ~GA

150 years ago, Mark Twain visited Muslim-occupied Israel and wrote of “unpeopled deserts” and “mounds of barrenness”, of “forlorn” and “untenanted” cities.
Mark this as the year the Democratic Party turned decisively anti-Israel.
The party’s ever-more-dominant liberal base has turned increasingly against the Jewish state — while Bernie Sanders is using his movement to push for Israel-bashing language in the platform.

At Israeli Apartheid Week, campus haters claim to be fighting “colonialism” by fighting Jews. Columbia University’s Center for Palestine Studies, dedicated to a country that doesn’t exist and which has produced nothing worth studying except terrorism, features diatribes such as Palestine Re-Covered: Reading a Settler Colonial Landscape”. This word salad is a toxic stew of historical revisionism being used to justify the Muslim settler colonization of the indigenous Jewish population.

On March 27, speaking to the Sunday Times, former Archbishop of Canterbury Rowan Williams expressed his concern at rising levels of anti-Semitism on British university campuses. There are, he said, “worrying echoes” of Germany in the 1930s. Two days later, in The Times, Chris Bryant, the Shadow Leader of the House of Commons and a senior member of the British Labour party, warned that the political left was increasingly questioning the right of the state of Israel to exist, a view he called a “not too subtle form of anti-Semitism.”
