DID VIENNESE CULTURE SHAPE AUSTRIAN ECONOMICS?

I have been a student and proponent of The Austrian School of Economics since I studied economics at UCLA. When reading about Keynes economics theories of government deficit spending and then comparing his theories to the free-market theories of The Austrian School, I couldn’t see, even as a student, how anyone could think that Keynesian economics would work in a free society. I know that John Maynard Keynes developed his theory as a solution to the Great Depression. More government spending, he theorized, would put more money into the economy and pull us out of the depression. It didn’t work. It kept us in the Depression.

Yesterday, Congressman Hank Johnson, in a speech to an anti-Israel organization called U.S. Campaign to End the Israel Occupation, which supports the BDS movement, called Jewish residents of Judea and Samaria, “Termites.”

Ari Soffer, who is Managing Editor of Arutz Sheva (Israel National News), responded to Congressman Johnson’s comment. Keep in mind that Jews have continuously lived in Judea and Samaria (and East Jerusalem) since the 6th Century BCE, except for a single 19 year period between 1948 and 1967 when it was controlled by Jordan. Anyone who considers that Israel is “occupying” Judea and Samaria, or East Jerusalem, is wrong legally, politically and historically. ~GA

[Comment by GA] Expect an increase in the crime rate, and less law enforcement because of the ‘Ferguson Effect.’ The ‘Ferguson Effect’ was first written about in Heather Mac Donald’s new book, “The War on Cops.” The left, which includes the popular press, and elected officials, will tell you there is no ‘War on Cops.’ That isn’t true. There is. Get Ms. Mac Donald’s book if you want the facts. Criminals, aided by the clueless Left, want there to be less law enforcement so they can make money in illegal enterprises without being hassled by the cops.  As a result, proactive policing, or predictive policing, which has kept the crime rate low, is being eliminated, and crime rates are increasing as a result.
