I Love America – An Art Exhibit Protesting Anti-American Art

This is an email that I received from Melanie Morgan of Move America Forward. It carries a very important message, which is why I am reproducing it in full here.

Bill Lockyer, a leftist Democrat, who is the Attorney General of California, and the person responsible for getting the Re-Districting Initiative removed from the November ballot in California, displays anti-American art in his offices.

This email from Move America Forward is in response to the display of this offensive art by a self-described America-hating artist, Steven Pearcy, in Lockyer’s office .

Fellow Americans,

This is one email you might want to print out. It’s important, and I need you to read every last word.

From Egypt we learn that the terrorists have struck once more, and again they have chosen to target innocent civilians – people whose only “crime” was merely trying to vacation with their families.

There is a reason the terrorists strike at vacation resorts, and at office towers in New York and underground trains in London. The terrorists’ ultimate target is the civilian population of the free world.

They want to undermine our resolve and cause the people of the free world to capitulate under the threats of violence and through the tactics of intimidation and fear.

So, you can understand why it is that I am so offended when I see some misguided and vocal types protesting against our troop and against what our great nation stands for.

A perfect example of the type of people I am referring to is Steve Pearcy, a Berkeley, California resident who is intent on terrorizing the people of Sacramento with his obscene anti-American art. Pearcy gained national fame after he began displaying U.S. troops hanged in effigy from a noose on the front of his 2nd home – in Sacramento, California.

Pearcy maintains a BLOG where he describes those who support our troops as:

“…drooling, toothless conservatives gathered across the street from my home to hold their candlelight, faith-healing, vigilante prayer meeting… Next time, for the sake of my neighbors across the street, I hope that the bible-thumpers will remember to bring their drool buckets with them.”

You may view Steve Pearcy’s BLOG online here. (Warning: there is a great deal of offensive content)

People like Steve Pearcy do the bidding of the terrorists… they work to undermine American support for our troops and the missions they serve: Operation Iraqi Freedom and Operation Enduring Freedom (in Afghanistan). The offensive behavior of people like Steve Pearcy helps invigorate the terrorists and make them believe that their
efforts are working, that American resolve in the war against terrorism is waning – and thus the killing of innocent civilians continues.

But now things have gotten much more serious.

The California State Attorney General (California’s highest law enforcement officer) has put up Mr. Pearcy’s anti-American “art” along with anti-American, anti-military and anti-Christian works by other “artists” in the California Department of Justice building.

You can see the “art” here:

http://www.MoveAmericaForward.org

Mr. Lockyer is paid by the taxpayers. The Department of Justice building is funded by the taxpayers.

Yet, we must all be subjected to sponsoring these works that seek to undermine our nation at a time of war. Well, it’s time to speak up folks!

WE CAN RESPOND IN A POSITIVE, BEAUTIFUL WAY
= = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = =

It is unacceptable to allow such America-bashing and military-bashing by the likes of Steve Pearcy and Attorney General Lockyer to go unanswered.

But, instead of just responding with cries of protest, we have an opportunity to turn this story around… to make it a message of pride in our nation and our troops – a message that hopefully will be so loud it spreads through media reports, talk radio shows, and Internet websites and BLOGs around the world.

Move America Forward is organizing the “I LOVE AMERICA” pro-American art exhibit and rally.

We are collecting pro-American art from our supporters throughout the nation. We ask that each of you reading this letter take the time to make your own pro-American display. It can be a painting, a sketch, a drawing, whatever you wish.

Ideally it should be 8.5″ x 11″ or smaller.

We ask that you mail us your artwork or drop it by our headquarters:

Move America Forward
770 L Street #950
[9th Floor]
Sacramento, CA 95814

Include with your pro-American art submission a note of support for our troops serving in Iraq and Afghanistan. The reason? We’ll be sending your artwork and notes to our troops DIRECTLY to the men and women serving in Iraq & Afghanistan along with boxes of cookies and bags of premium coffee.

>>> THE BIG DAY <<<

On Thursday, July 28, 2005 we will put on display the pro-American art we have received from around the nation in a massive display in front of the California Department of Justice located at 1300 I Street in Sacramento (downtown Sacramento, California at the intersection of 13th and I streets).

The “I LOVE AMERICA” exhibit will take place simultaneous with a pro-American rally that will also take place in front of the Attorney General’s office.

The event begins around 3:30 PM in the afternoon and lasts until 10:00 PM.

We really need to have everyone on hand between 4:30 PM and 7:00 PM as this will be the time that the news media will be present in greatest numbers to cover this event.

And that news media coverage is key to what this event is all about.

We need hundreds upon hundreds – if not thousands – of Americans to be present with American flags, pro-troop signs and banners, wearing your red, white and blue clothing.

There will be enough fair-minded and objective news outlets covering the “I LOVE AMERICA” art exhibit and rally, so that if we can amass a large enough crowd we can make headlines around the nation – and beyond. You can expect that news organizations like Fox News Channel, talk radio shows and Internet news services will be covering this story.

We have a chance to organize a massive display of love for our country and appreciation for our troops – one so large and powerful it drowns out the “hate” contained from the anti-American exhibit inside Attorney General Lockyer’s office building.

Aren’t you sick and tired of feeling like we are always on the defensive? Doesn’t it seem like we always have to denounce the irresponsible actions by the likes of Senator Dick Durbin, or radical anti-war protestors, or people like Steve Pearcy and Bill Lockyer?

Well, instead of just complaining, let’s do something positive, beautiful and proactive.

it’s time we made the effort and sacrifice of just a short time from our own personal lives to stand up for what we believe in.

If people who wish to undermine what our nation stands for can dedicate their time and effort to denounce America and criticize our troops, can’t the rest of us dedicate just a little bit of time and effort to send out our own message of patriotism, pride in our troops, and resolve to not be intimidated by terrorism or those who wish to undermine our nation’s resolve?

It’s time for action – positive, pro-active and pro-American action.

I’m counting on each of you reading this… whether you live in California or some state beyond, to join with me and support the “I LOVE AMERICA” exhibit and rally.

Send in your artwork. Get your kids to make their own artwork. You don’t have to be a talented artist… just someone with the heart and passion of being a proud American.

I can tell you from talking to our troops in Iraq that one of the things they love most is to receive messages of support and notes from children. So, get every child you can to participate in this program!

And make your travel plans with your family and friends so that you can stand side-by-side with us this Thursday, July 28, 2005 for the “I LOVE AMERICA” art exhibit and rally.

I can think of no better activity to take your children to… show them something that the old line monopoly media will never show them… show them the silent majority of Americans who love their country and will stand behind the men and women of our military who risk their lives to keep us safe and free.

Please, help me make sure that we have a giant crowd on Thursday.

Let’s show our strength in numbers, and let’s showcase an alternative to the bash-America artwork on display in the California Department of Justice building. And bring friends, family members, co-workers.

Forward this email on to anyone else you think you can persuade to make the trip to Sacramento. Send this notice to others you know who already live in northern California.

You can make discount travel reservations using the links below. Make it a long weekend summer vacation – just make sure you are with us this Thursday sometime between 3:30 PM and 10:00 PM. We want to show that people came from all across the nation to make their voices heard.

Update:

You can go here to sign a petition to demand that Atty. Gen. Lockyer remove the offensive anti-American display. (Thanks to Andy Nevis at California High School Conservative for the tip)
